Recently, Flooring Industries concluded new license agreements with the laminate flooring manufacturers Hansol Homedeco (South-Korea), Changzhou Lingdian (China) and Jiangsu Lodgi (China) and with the Chinese engineered flooring manufacturers Panyu Kangda Boards and Zhejiang Shiyou, also known as Sunyard.
“Despite the economical difficult period, there is a big demand for license agreements”, comments Bart Van der Stockt, managing director of Flooring Industries. “Flooring manufacturers want to upgrade their product portfolio in order to stay competitive in the market place. The Unilin glueless installation technology is the ideal tool to do so. Importers, distributors and retailers are also strongly insisting on fully licensed products as they want to avoid legal problems at this moment”.
Earlier this month, new containers with glueless flooring products were seized by the United States Customs and Border Protection Department at the US border. Those products were manufactured by companies that had no protection under the Unilin patent rights.
